"USB cables are wonderful things, since they allow so many different products to be connected together. Of course, the humble USB connector isn't without its own set of problems and we often find ourselves trying to push the plug in several times before we realize that we've got it the wrong way around. Of course, that wouldn't happen if everybody out there just used this concept Double USB plug, which is a USB plug design that can work even if you flip it upside down, thanks to a spring-loaded mechanism inside the connector. Of course, such a design would probably increase the rate of failure, since there are more parts, but we must say the convenience probably is worth it."

It's not that hard to plug a USB cable in, but I always seem to get it wrong at the first attempt and have to turn the cable over. This double USB plug design would ensure that you would always get it right first time though. I'm not sure how much cost this would add to a cable or how rigid the design is, but it would have to be comparable to the existing plugs if it wants to become a mainstream item.
