Global Average Connection Speeds Report Shows U.S. Is Lagging

Despite having the largest presence in the world wide web with 142,605,731 of the 584,821,069 global unique IP addresses, the United States only ranks 14th in terms of pure internet speed with an average connection speed of 5.3 Mbps. South Korea holds top honors with a national average connection speed of 14.4 Mbps. Akamai's report also further breaks the areas into states and cities.
