Focus Enhancements CenterStage CS-HD Video Scaler
Posted by Suhit Gupta in "NEWS" @ 06:00 AM
I did not know this but apparently every new DVD player and HDTV has a video scaler and/or de-interlacer already built into it. The article explains this in more detail but basically a video scalar and de-interlacer together resize, reformat, convert, and enhance a video signal to make it look as sharp, clear and as lifelike as possible. This is a good article that talks about the different lines of resolution in different TV signals and the CS-HD does seem like a very nifty tool. It would be nice to get a look at the algorithms they emply to do the conversion/sampling. The main concern from my point of view is the cost. "The CS-HD is considered a budget video scaler at $995, and is the least expensive in the Focus Enhancement’s line of video processors, which includes the CS-1 ($1,995) and CS-2 ($2,495)". There is a more information available from the manufacturer's product site - http://www.focusinfo.com/products/b_tview_pro.htm
