8GB CF II Card By Lexar

The new card, about the size of a matchbook, will have twice the storage of the largest CompactFlash cards now on the market. Lexar, like other manufacturers that plan to roll out similar cards soon, is confident that there is a market. High-resolution photos taken with newer camera models can amount to eight megabytes of data, and some digital cameras can now shoot eight frames per second. All those images can add up fast. But an eight-gigabyte card can store 1,000 or more images, so photographers need not worry about changing cards in the middle of a shoot."
This CF Type II card will retail for a whopping $4500, so I am guessing that consumers/prosumers are not going to line up right away, but I can see this as being an excellent accessory for professional photographers. Although, given time and demand, the prices are sure to drop.
