Sharp Galileo Personal Video Recorder

"Sharp Electronics, in partnership with Instant802 Networks, has just released the Sharp Galileo Personal Video Recorder (PVR) with wireless 802.11g video distribution technology in Japan -- talk of a U.S. version later this year. In addition, "[Sharp Galileo] provides several data networking solutions, including a complete residential gateway solution with the latest security features, including Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), as well as a wireless access point that supports multiple independent networks and provides complete network security while allowing limited "guest access" requiring no configuration.""
This PVR is able to record in MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 formats. And since it has networking built in, including 802.11, its primary function appears to become more of a digital media server in addition to being a video recorder. Additionally, Sharp has cleverly added Internet file sharing capabilities to this unit . This allows th Galileo to communicate and serve up video, photos, music, or any type of file on its hard drive. So you can use any Web enabled PC, PDA, and/or cellphone to not only view the videos but also program the Galileo to setup and record TV shows remotely.
