"On Monday, Hewlett-Packard introduced a "Media Drive", an external hard drive that can be easily inserted and removed from an HP computer to provide additional storage. Users will be able to insert and remove the $299, 160-Gbyte Media Drive into a special storage bay designed into the a new PhotoSmart m1000 PC that HP will introduce on Monday. However, the cartridge-shaped removable drive will also serve as a standalone hard drive and can be connected to other PCs via its integrated USB2 interface."

This sounds so much like the Iomega Rev drive, except I believe that the Rev could only do 35GB while the HP unit appears to be able to do 160GB. Of course when I searched for the m1000 PC, all I found were drives that had 80GB removable hard drive cartridges. Perhaps vendors don't have the 160GB units yet. Anyways, what I found interesting from the article is that even though the hard drives can store files/folders from a regular computer much like any hard drive media, it seems like HP is aiming this Media Drive at PVRs since the sealed units are notorious for running out of space.
