muvee Offers quickSpin for Free

quickSpin is a way for you to see what muvee AutoProducer (their full product) can do with your media. It's really just a demo, because it's too limited and random to be called a program. After I installed it I thought I might be able to pick a folder with the media that I wanted to include, but it randomly picks photos and video clips from your My Pictures and My Videos folders, along with a random song from your My Music folder. The net result for me? An error message because it tried to load a DRM'd WMA file, and a video that was a curious mix of videos and photos from my recent trip to Scotland and a Mobius event two years ago. It was quite horrifying to behold actually. 8O Once the project was finished, it can be saved as a low-res WMV file meant for emailing.
I suppose if you had nothing but vacation photos in your My Pictures, and a Kenny G CD ripped in your My Music, quickSpin might be able to come up with something bearable. Muvee AutoProducer is a superb product, but the randomness of quickSpin does a disservice to the product line and is best avoided. Get the real thing and you'll love it!
As a side note, muvee has a smokin' fast server - when I started the 27 MB file download I was getting 2200 KB/s, which is amazingly fast. It slowed down to about 900 KB/s after 10 seconds, which is still great compared to the 100-200 KB/s most servers can dish up.
