Cambridge Soundworks SurroundWorks 200

"The SurroundWorks 200 system consists of a multi-channel center speaker, compact subwoofer and the AVS600 DVD/CD/AM/FM control center that can also play DVD-Audio discs. Cambridge Soundworks said that the entire system is wired with just two connecting cables and that it is engineered to recreate surround sound with “invisible speakers”. Essentially, the main speaker consists of a three-driver array housed in a single cabinet. It uses a special surround sound processor to create the effect of multiple speakers."

I could see this illusion theoretically working well in a room that the setup was specifically designed to acoustically match. But given the varying acoustical properties of most rooms, I would imagine the sound from these would be mediocre at best when compared to a system with multiple physical speakers. That said, for someone that won't run a bunch of cables, this should still be better than just their TV speakers.
