"NYC based MusicGremlin is set to debut a very interesting new device at CES in January. It’s an Mp3 player with an integrated wireless music service. Effectively this means that if you are within range of a decent 802.11b you can purchase and download music directly from the device. Even more interestingly, you will be able to share your music with other MusicGremlin players wirelessly thanks to the wonders of DRM technology. The Gremster has partnered with the more plainly named MusicNet to provide a library of 2 million tracks available for download. If they can price this competively enough this idea could have a lot of promise. Who wants to bother hooking up their player to a computer after all, wouldn’t it be so much more fun to download that hot new track while you are at the gym and wishing you had it?"While this is a neat W?BIC trick, I think it is still a bit ahead of its time. Until their is pervasive Wi-Fi, I don't think that users will be wanting to buy and load their music over it directly to their player. Do any of you think you want this type of service?
