Canon Phone Camera?

"We’re not totally convinced of the legitimacy of this story, or why on earth Canon is going down this development path (if indeed it is), but the company has managed to combine a digital SLR (DSLR) with mobile phone technology. From now on, you will always have a phone handy, no matter where you are. Yeah right, like you’re going to pull this out of your bag and make a call! The first mobile phone-capable camera from Canon will be the Digital Rebel XCP. Mechanically, it is similar to Canon’s popular entry-level digital SLR, the Digital Rebel XT. However, the controls on the back have been changed to make room for microphone, speaker and dial pad."
As soon as I read this story, I immediately checked to see that date, i.e. if it were April 1st. While I am not saying that this is a good or bad move on Canon's part, I do question the direction of their diversification. I can see the immense usefulness of a camera-phone that you and I (most of us) carry. But, a phone-camera, especially a DSLR? I wonder how many people would pay the premium. In fact, if the true use for this phone were on a safari or other exotic adventures, shouldn't the phone be a satellite phone?
