"In what some might consider good news today, Google and CodeWeavers are working on porting the company's photo editing app, Picasa, to the Linux platform. Of course, the background technology enbabling this is WINE, a compatibility layer technology that allows Windows applications, including their DLL files, to run on open-source operating systems like Linux. There's also rumors that if the initial port works out well, Google is open to bringing some of their other popular Windows native applications to Linux in the future."While emulation mode is a step, it is not the ideal. Could this just be the toe in the water to gauge the interest in a Linux version before putting the resources into a native version?
