Finally! Details on CableCARD and Media Center

All of this certification makes interoperability more of a sure thing, but the problem with closed standards like this is that instead of giving consumers what they really want, it limits them to a few compromised choices. I'm not sure I like that idea. I'd rather see market competition produce the best of the breed, not some committee's idea of what consumers should want to buy. I think true innovation is going to be increasingly stifled, all in the name of funneling more consumer dollars into the pockets of a few large corporations and licensees.
