“Of course, if you don't need all those extra features and just want a slick-looking, great-sounding player, I still recommend the iPod Nano, which is slightly cheaper for the same amount of storage. The U3 may not be the greatest MP3 player ever, but I like it a lot because it's small and lightweight, and it has just about all the features I could want, including good battery life. I do wish the video played back at a higher frame rate, but as an audio player, the U3 is about as versatile as they come.”

Another so-called iPod killer screws on the silencer and takes aim…at itself. Seriously, point one on the iPod killer checklist is: make it cooler. Point two is: if you can’t make it cooler, make it cheaper. This one misses on both counts. Good one! And forget a better screen, better interface, etc. While I do like the fact that this one plays Xvid (which every player should), these iPod replacements, to me, are like someone inventing a replacement for the car that involves paying .99 a mile to walk everywhere.
