Mark Cuban Partners with Dell for Blu-ray Release

"Mark Cuban is weighing in for Blu-ray Disc. The maverick mogul, known for championing the simultaneous release of films across multiple platforms, plans to bundle original high-definition content from his HDNet network with Dell computers sold in the U.S. "Our combination of great programming, captured and displayed at only the highest quality, is a win-win opportunity for HDNet, Dell and consumers who want the very best high-definition home-viewing experience," Cuban said in a statement. "Through this opportunity, HDNet is able to provide high-quality original content to one of the computer industry's premiere companies." The first title under the deal is "HDNet World Report Special: Shuttle Discovery's Historic Mission," copies of which will be packaged with Dell's XPS M1710 computer."
Following on the heels of the news about Dell putting Blu-ray recorders in some of their laptops, this news isn't so surprising. I'm a bit surprised to see Cuban backing Blu-ray though - then again, when they would have started all this about a year ago, Blu-ray was much stronger on paper. In the real world, HD-DVD is kicking ass and taking names from where I stand.
