Apple Says 3 Billion iTunes Songs Downloaded

"Apple says that their iTunes music service tops 3 billion downloaded songs. "We’d like to thank all of our customers who have contributed to this incredible milestone," said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of iTunes. 3 billion is an incredible number. It does not matter what you sell 3 billion times, you will make a buck or two. The Apple iTunes store recently surpassed both Amazon and Target to become the third largest music retailer in the US. "
That number is...incredible. I don't think anyone saw the potential iTunes had when it launched a few years ago. With that much music being sold through iTunes, rather than traditional retail outlets, no wonder the music industry is feeling shaken up. Their entire business model is being turned on its' head, by just one retailer.
