"Picture Style Editor allows you to, as the name implies, edit and create your own custom Picture Styles. Naturally you can pick a base Picture Style and then the level of Sharpness, Contrast, Color Saturation and Color tone for the new Picture Style. It goes one step further however and even allows you to create a color look-up table with your own preferred color response. You achieve this by using the picker to select a color in the scene (works on CR2 RAW files), you can then apply a Hue / Saturation / Luminance adjustment to that specific color. You can also adjust the range of color around it which is affected by the adjustment. Once you've finished making your adjustments you simply save the Picture Style as a PF2 file which can then be used by the camera or by Digital Photo Professional for RAW conversion. With a little experimentation it's possible to create some interesting new Picture Styles and I am sure we will see a trade in custom Picture Styles as soon as this utility makes its way into the hands of users."The Canon EOS 40D continues to amaze. First there was the compatibility with the WFT-E3A wireless transmitter accessory. And now there is this piece of software the you get with the camera - i.e. the Picture Style Editor 1.0. This tool allows you to pick a particular color and apply a set of functions to that color and save that "style" for future images. Unfortuantely, I don't see any information about whether this could be applied on a batch basis to a large set of images, however that would make sense to have as well. Cool stuff.
