"Following the huge success of Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace Video Store in the US, where it has changed the way Xbox 360™ owners view and enjoy high-definition movies, Microsoft® today announced that Xbox LIVE Marketplace Video Store will open for business in Canada on December 11th, 2007. Canadian Xbox 360 owners will be able to rent full-length films such as Ocean’s 13, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, License to Wed and 300 for as little as 310 Microsoft Points for Standard Definition movies and from 460 Microsoft Points for High Definition movies. With this launch, Xbox LIVE Marketplace becomes the first video on demand service to be available in six countries – US, Canada, France, Germany, the UK and Ireland - and cements its place as the worldwide leader in online distribution of high-definition gaming and entertainment content."It's finally happening! I gave up waiting because it seemed like Xbox Live videos would never come to Canada, but the wait is over - a full two years after the Xbox 360 launched. My 20 GB hard drive is already full, so I'm taking steps to acquire a 120 GB drive (the $210 CAN retail price is insane) for free using my MVP "bucks" (we get $150 to spend in the Microsoft company store). Unfortunately they're sold out at the moment, but hopefully I'll get my hands on one soon.
Here's more info about the European launch in the UK, Ireland, France and Germany.
