Techsmith Release New Jing Version 1.4

"Have you heard about Jing? It’s a project being run by the good folks at Techsmith (who make two of my essential Windows tools - SnagIt and Camtasia Studio). Jing is basically a free screen capture tool (still and video) for both Windows and Mac OS but with a number of twists. The new version adds the following features according to the Jing Project blog: share to FTP, share images to Flickr, streamlined sharing to files, and usage reporting to help improve Jing. The Jing Project also offers a number of free goodies including a very useful wallpaper that has outlines of the most common screen sizes to aid you in setting up screen shots for your blog, web site, or other projects."
Now why wasn't this around when I was in grad school? Creating demos would have been so much easier than installing a super expensive video capture card and/or finding a good video camera and a tripod. This really makes screen captures and the subsequent sharing so easy. I just gave it a whirl and it works very well. I wonder whether Techsmith will market this to customer services divisions of companies? I can totally see customer service reps using this to help solve software problems for customers that call in by showing them exactly what steps to follow on their screen.
