Boy Scouts Introduce Videogame Badge
Posted by Jon Childs in "Digital Home News" @ 01:30 PM
"Yes, really. The Boy Scouts of America have finally recognized that most important of modern children's pastimes with the creation of a "Video Games" belt loop and pin. However, our initial excitement on this momentous day is drastically lessened after reading how one goes about earning them."
That happy screaming and jumping you are hearing is most likely the sound of my 8 year old celebrating. Being a serious gadget guy I suppose I don't have much room to complain, but isn't Cub Scouts for doing stuff outside? To their credit, the requirements do make the boys create a schedule and only play video games at certain times. I may not have had to walk two miles to school, uphill both ways, in the snow when I was a kid, but I did have to leave the house to earn my scouting badges.
