Price: $50 - $99 USD
Holds: DSLR with lens attached as well as 1 to 2 other lenses, 17" Macbook (15.4" laptop) and personal effects.
Specifications: Product Height 12.2", Product Width 7.5", Product Depth18.9",Product Weight 2.2 lbs.

Pros:

  • Lightweight;
  • Cost Effective;
  • Lots of Storage Space.

Cons:

  • Shoulder Pad is not Comfortable;

  • No Easy Access Side Pockets.

Summary: The Manfrotto Unica VII Messenger Bag is a great camera bag for photographers on the go or who travel frequently. It is stylish and has an easy access top zipper that lets you get to all your gear in a hurry. That same zipper makes it easy to grab your laptop out for airport security checkpoints and, yes, the whole bag is carry-on friendly for both domestic and international flights.

The ability to carry a pro body with a battery pack attached and a 17 inch laptop along with other lenses and equipment without weighing a ton or requiring you to stop and find a place to sit your bag down in order to access your equipment is a lifesaver. The messenger bag style makes it easy to carry around all day and doesn't scream "I have an expensive camera in here!". The price point on this can't be beat - at $50 - $100, it easily compares to bags twice the price. Read more...

Skooba Design Launches Several New Products

Skooba Design has launched a whack of new products - and they look great! Pictured is the Techlife Compact Laptop Messenger bag ($54.95) - I reviewed a smaller version of this bag, the Netbook Messenger, and it rocks. This new version has slightly re-configured internal pouches designed to accommodate a 13" laptop. After the break, more new products, but before you go there, remember to use the coupon code DIGIDEAL to save 20% off any order more than $50, and to sign up for the Skooba newsletter - they often have special promotions and discounts. Tenba Announces Messenger Mini Photo/Laptop Bag and Small Camera Bag

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Digital Home Hardware & Accessories" @ 10:24 AM

"Leading the way in carrying solutions for over 30 years, Tenba announces today that is has expanded its urban-inspired Messenger collection to include a new Mini Photo/Laptop Bag and Small Camera Bag. These new bags incorporate the soft, body-hugging and retro-discreet styling of the company's courier-style messenger bags, but in compact sizes for smaller camera systems. The Tenba Messenger Mini Photo/Laptop Bag and Small Camera Bag are constructed of military-grade, 1000 denier nylon: the most time-tested, durable, weather-resistant textile in the outdoor industry. Each model offers a variety of pockets and other storage spaces to keep digital camera equipment and accessories organized and protected. Space is thoughtfully and efficiently laid out for cables and card readers, mobile hard drives, chargers and much more."

I reviewed the small Messenger Photo Bag earlier this year, and overall I quite liked it. Tenba has taken the same basic concept and made it even smaller - pictured above is the Mini Photo/Laptop bag ($84.95 $97.95 USD), and the laptop compartment is appropriate for an iPad or 13" laptop/netbook (just remember it has to be thin). The other bag, dubbed the Small Camera Bag, seems similar, but lacks the space for the laptop. Strangely, it has a higher price tag ($114.95 $131.95), so it must be bigger. Currently, Tenba has neither product up on their Web site, so I'm a little light on details.

Tenba's Small Messenger Photo Bag: A Worthy Bag For Your Laptop and DSLR

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Laptop Thoughts Accessories" @ 07:00 AM

I really like bags. Laptop bags, camera bags, gadget bags of all sorts - there's something I find enjoyable, if not downright soothing, about having the perfect bag. Blame it on my first born child, Type A personality. What makes the perfect bag? For me, it's having a bag with logically designed pouches, zippers, and straps. Something that's lightweight, easy to carry when heavily loaded, and great for travelling. A poorly designed bag can put a crimp in any trip; when I attended the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, I used a bag that was so poorly suited for travel I hated it by the time I got home. Having no bag can put you in an even worse mood - having to travel to CES 2010 without a laptop bag of any sort was downright frustrating. Read more...
